About Tess

Tess is a mum to three children and understands the difficulties and joys that come with raising healthy children from conception, having a healthy pregnancy, birth and onwards and is passionate about helping other women achieve a healthy pregnancy and recover well after the birth (whether natural or via c-section) so you can focus on enjoying your baby and feel supported to breast feed if its possible.

Tess has a Bachelor of Health Science (Complementary Medicine), completed at Charles Sturt University (CSU), an Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine and Advanced Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine, completed at the Australasian College of Natural Medicine (ACNT). Throughout the degree electives were studied in the areas of human reproductive biology, neuroscience, nutritional biochemistry, evidence based medicine, microbiology and immunology. Advanced diplomas of nutritional and western herbal medicine included studies in the areas of the philosophy, principles and practices of western herbal medicine, nutritional therapy and medical sciences including chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology and symptomatology and diagnosis, psychology, counseling and more.

Tess is a member of the National Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA), which is the oldest complementary medicine association in Australia, being incorporated in 1920 and the only national professional body of medical herbalists. Tess continues to update her skills at seminars and training days on several occasions throughout the year as this is a compulsory requirement of all registered, practising health professionals.

Tess is passionate about using food as medicine and featured on Channel Ten’s cooking show ‘Ready Steady Cook’ in 2009 to promote the fact that “eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring…it’s just about making ‘better’ choices, for example, swapping white rice for the ancient grain quinoa or the high fibre brown rice! Food can be interesting and in being creative with food, trying different grains to wheat, alternatives to dairy, exploring all the different coloured fruits and vegetables, you eat to nourish your body and have fun at the same time…food is medicine”. Tess is committed to helping you feel better everyday, whatever state of health you are in.
